Jane Bird, Partner
Jane joined Carbon in 2004 and is responsible for conducting global searches for senior executives in retail and commercial banking. She has considerable expertise in functional leadership positions including risk, finance and legal as well as business practice leaders. Prior to joining Carbon, she worked with international clients at Wrightson Wood, a retail financial services search boutique. She started her career with Korn/Ferry International, where she undertook global assignments for banking organisations and helped establish an infrastructure services group. Jane graduated from King’s College, London with a degree in Philosophy.

Matt Cooper, Non-Executive Partner
Matt joined the Carbon Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2001 and works with all Carbon staff to align the day-to-day running of the business with its long-term strategy. Matt joined a consultancy firm after graduating from Princeton University top of his class with a summa cum laude in chemistry. As MD of Capital One, he was instrumental in the company’s growth, developing a marketing strategy and culture that have been vital to its success. He left Capital One in 2001 to do more of what he enjoys: advising, mentoring and teaching. His varied roles across many industries include the chairmanship of asset managers Octopus Investments and TDX limited, and he sits on the Boards of Sadler's Wells and Nottingham Trent University.

Sophie Le Hardy, Associate
Sophie joined Carbon in 2008 she works primarily in research and execution of search assignments. Prior to joining Carbon, Sophie worked at the PR consultancy Fishburn Hedges as a team assistant involved in Public Sector campaigns including the, NHS Smokefree campaign and the Responsibility in Gambling Trust. Sophie graduated from the University of Cardiff with a BA Joint Honours in Music and Italian in 2000 and a post-graduate diploma in Clarinet Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2001.

Rebecca Nicholson, Partner
Rebecca joined Carbon in 2003. As a Partner in the financial services practice at Carbon, Rebecca leads the origination and delivery of international executive search assignments as well as identifying and developing new business opportunities. Rebecca draws on her extensive global network which she has built over 16 years in senior level search and working abroad for 10 of those years. Her experience spans a variety of disciplines including commercial leadership and general management, as well as risk, operations, marketing and finance. Rebecca worked as an Associate for TASA International in Hong Kong and Sydney and then for DS Wolf International, a New York-headquartered search boutique in London.

Oliver Parsons, Associate
Oliver joined Carbon in 2010 as part of the core in house research team. In this role, Oliver is responsible for leading the initial research for each project and participating in the identification and evaluation of candidates prior to presentation to the client. Before joining Carbon, Oliver worked as an assistant producer in broadcast media. He worked on documentaries for a wide selection of international broadcasters, including the BBC, Channel 4 and Five. Oliver graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2006 with an MA in History.

Alicia Seoane-Ireland, Consultant and Quality Manager
Alicia joined Carbon in 2000, and quickly rose to become a consultant within the financial services practice. In addition to her consultant role, Alicia is Carbon’s Quality Manager. In this role she manages the Quality Assessment process which involves conducting client and candidate reviews for each assignment. Prior to Carbon, she headed business development at IQPC, an international conference organisation, where she worked with leading industry figures to build a team producing the first pan-industry Six Sigma events, held across the world. She began her career with Rolls Royce Defence, working on international contract negotiation for the Eurofighter programme. Alicia graduated from Brunel University with a first class degree in Management Studies.

Verity Smith, Consultant
Verity joined Carbon in 2010 from a consumer finance boutique where she was a Consultant. She works across functions and has developed a network of sales and marketing focussed leadership talent. She has UK and international experience which includes familiarity with the Russian and Sub Sahara African markets. At Carbon she is focussed on building relationships across the financial services industry by delivering assignments. Prior to the search industry she worked in film production. Verity graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Masters in English Literature and Classical Civilisation.

Paul Steggall, Managing Partner
Paul founded Carbon in 1999 and has over a decade's experience in executive search. In addition to the overall leadership of Carbon's business, Paul executes senior assignments across sectors and geographies, with particular specialty in banking appointments and commercial CEO roles. Prior to founding Carbon, Paul spent three years at JM the specialist technology recruitment firm. He is also a director of The Motion Group theatre company.

Stephen Warrington, Non-Executive Chairman
Stephen Warrington joined Carbon as Non-Executive Chairman in June 2006. He is UK Managing Director of Diamond, a management advisory firm specialising in business strategy, technology and major programme delivery. He has extensive experience as a leader of professional services businesses and has served as a consultant to the top management of multi-national companies on a broad range of issues. Prior to Diamond, Stephen led a large technology business for Unisys Corporation, encompassing hardware, software, systems integration and outsourcing. He was previously a partner at McKinsey & Company, focusing on financial services. Other roles include director of group strategy at Barclays. Stephen has an MBA with from Harvard Business School and an honours degree in Finance from City University, London.

Peter Wisher, Partner & Chief Operating Officer
Peter Wisher joined Carbon in November 2008 as chief operating officer. Prior to Carbon, Peter’s experience in the search industry was with Baines Gwinner and Whitehead Mann as Chief operating officer of Baines Gwinner. His background in business management encompasses senior Financial and operating positions in Service related businesses.

Previously, He was an Investment Banker specialising in Corporate finance and was head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Charterhouse in London. Peter graduated from Exeter University in Law.
